set-up for exhaust

Postby ge5 » Wed Jun 04, 2014 8:16 pm

Hi-I'm setting up a new 5th gen HobbyLaser with a 12 x 20"bed, which was purchased along with the recommended exhaust fan. Can anyone share pictures of their exhaust set-up? We are planning to vent out the window via a plywood insert with 4" flexible aluminum duct. Is it better to mount the exhaust fan further or closer to the laser chassis or the window?
Thanks for any help-tips-suggestions! ge5

It is best to run the blower as close to the outside end of the duct as possible. This will create negative pressure along the line and any leaks will have air pulling into the duct, not blowing exhaust out of it.

I'm running a 4" hard PVC (drainage pipe from Home Depot) with a 4" inline blower up in the attic near a roof vent. Works great even with such a long run from the laser.

The closer to the window the better. Ideally you want your whole exhaust system to have negative pressure.
