Basic Scanning Only

This is our most economical service.  We will create a fixture and scan your object up to 12 times at various rotational angles.  We will then manually align each of the scans and “fuse” them together to a single mesh and supply you with a 3D STL file that you can import into your favorite 3D editing software. May require editing to be useful other than for illustration purposes (use in web or video games ok for example).

Basic Scanning + Fill Holes + Watertight Mesh IGES/Solidworks Model

When 3D scans are created, often small errors such as holes from reflective or dark objects or minor align errors can occur.  It is both a time and computationally intensive exercise to ‘clean’ up the model.   We use the latest Geomagic Studio and Rapidform XOR2 to give you end results  good enough for 3D printing and CAM machining.
Included services are:

• data smoothing
• automatic and manual hole fill in
• global remeshing to fix any scan errors
• decimating of mesh to minimize number of triangles (file size) while still keeping high detail
• rewrapping the mesh to form a solid body suitable for CAM production or editing (surfacing)
• align the object to X , Y and Z axes that make sense
• scale the object to any size you would like
• generate 3D IGES or Solidworks Part Model
• charged by the hour

Even with a 3D model, there are details that are not discovered unless a 3D CAD model is created.  We will take your scan data, pick out ‘features’ such as holes, circles, extrusions, etc and basically redraw from scratch create a full 3D CAD model that captures all the design intent of your object.   We will then supply you with a deviation report to show where your 3D CAD model differs from your object.
